The excitement continued to build on May 19 as National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted the second day of time trials for its 2026 Mixed Relay Race. Ahead of the races, Vice President Lee interacted warmly and took photos with the runners, helping to ease their pre-competition jitters.

In his opening remarks, Vice President Lee expressed his delight at seeing a significant increase in participation this year, with 103 teams signing up—a notable increase from the previous event. He emphasized that this surge reflects a growing awareness among students regarding the importance of sports and physical health. Drawing from personal experience, Vice President Lee shared that he has consistently walked 10,000 steps every day for the past five years to maintain his well-being. "Exercise is paramount to sustaining good health," Lee noted. "Whether it is training for a relay race or committing to 10,000 steps a day, these activities are practical ways to lead a healthy lifestyle." He concluded by encouraging all competitors to unleash their full potential and strive for outstanding results.

Last year’s Freshmen Division champion team"All Talk No Action, 20K Cash" (光操不練 兩萬折現) once again delivered an impressive performance
This year's competition also showcased the creative wit of the participants, with teams adopting highly distinctive and imaginative names. Ranging from clever puns and physical education course titles to deep inner confessions and nonsensical humor, these creative monograms added an extra layer of morale and a lighthearted atmosphere before the starter gun fired.
Among the competitors, "All Talk No Action, 20K Cash" (光操不練 兩萬折現) carried the momentum of their championship title in the "Freshman Division" from the previous event. The team delivered another stellar performance, clinching the top spot in today's time trials with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 36.52 seconds, demonstrating that their formidable competitive edge remains as strong as ever.Chu Yi-mou, a Civil Engineering student and captain of "All Talk No Action, 20K Cash" shared that the team has been training twice a week since April. With only two to three new members joining this year, the squad was able to build upon its existing chemistry and camaraderie. This seamlessly reflects the university president's vision of using the event to help students find their like-minded partnerships. Despite their strong performance, Chu remained humble about their prospects. He acknowledged the high level of competition this year, stating that every team is highly competitive. "The team has already worked incredibly hard, and our main goal was simply to perform to our usual standard," Chu said. "If we do end up securing a top podium finish, it will be the result of everyone's collective effort."
The time trials for the 2026 NCKU Mixed Relay Race are taking place at the Kuang-Fu Campus track from May 18 to May 22. The top 16 teams will advance to the highly anticipated finals scheduled for June 8. Faculty, students, and members of the public are warmly invited to come to the track and cheer on the athletes.
