Professor Chih-Ping Wu, Chair Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), and Distinguished Professor Wei-Chou Hsu of the Department of Electrical Engineering have been named recipients of the 2026 Outstanding Engineering Professor Award by the Chinese Institute of Engineers, recognizing their distinguished achievements in academic research, engineering applications, and industry collaboration.
On May 5, His Excellency Roudy Stanley Penn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Haiti to the ROC (Taiwan), led a delegation to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). The visit aimed to review the academic achievements of Haitian students in Taiwan and to deepen collaboration in fields such as sustainable energy, artificial intelligence, environmental change, and Chinese language learning. By leveraging NCKU’s research strengths, the initiative seeks to cultivate a talent pool for Haiti’s national development.

National Cheng Kung University Library (NCKU Library), in collaboration with the National Taiwan Library (NTL), Taiwanese illustrator Poca, and INDOT IMAGE CO., LTD., will present the exhibition “Reading Without Boundaries × Voices with Love: Accessible Reading and Reader Course Achievement Exhibition” from May 5 to August 21 in the LibRE area on the first floor of the NCKU Main Library.
On May 1, 2026, National Cheng Kung University Hospital (NCKU Hospital) held an inauguration and handover ceremony at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), marking the transition from outgoing to incoming leadership. NCKU President Meng-Ru Shen (沈孟儒) officiated the ceremony, overseeing both the handover and the oath of office. Professor Keng-Fu Hsu (許耿福) officially assumed the role of NCKU Hospital Superintendent, receiving the official seal from his predecessor, Professor Jing-Wei Lee (李經維), before taking his oath. The ceremony marked a new chapter for both NCKU and NCKU Hospital as the institution’s leadership passed smoothly to a new generation.
The first session of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) “Who Cheng He” Forum, organized by the Class of 2026 Graduation Committee, was grandly held on April 28. Former President Tsai Ing-wen was invited to give a talk. Speaking on the theme of resilient growth, she shared with NCKU faculty and students how to practice being a warm decision-maker when facing pressure and controversy. Before the talk began, the NCKU Graduation Committee, the Center for Gender and Women Studies, as well as NCKU President Meng-Ru Shen, and the university’s administrative team jointly welcomed former President Tsai for visiting the university once again.
