A Global Culinary Journey - 2026 NCKU World Cultural & Food Festival

To promote cross-cultural exchange and demonstrate the depth of campus internationalization, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted the "2026 World Cultural & Food Festival" on its campus on March 28. Organized by the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Services of the Office of International Affairs, the event featured stalls set up by international students from around the globe. Through hometown delicacies, traditional crafts, and artistic performances, the festival led faculty and students on a rich journey of world cultures.

The event kicked off with a powerful and soul-stirring performance of the 24 Festive Drums by Malaysian students, setting a vibrant tone for the day. This was followed by melodic guitar and vocal acts along with a series of exquisite dance performances, creating a festive international atmosphere on campus. Throughout the event, the stall owners from various countries introduced their cultural backgrounds, specialty snacks, and related products to visitors, fully demonstrating NCKU’s spirit of diversity and inclusion.
The festival featured numerous highlights, with stalls offering representative dishes from various countries. These included fragrant Vietnamese Crab Soup, flavorful Indian Pani Puri, refreshing Thai Milk Tea, and silky Burmese Coconut Jelly. Beyond the feast for the taste buds, the Indonesian and Indian stalls featured cultural experience zones. Visitors could explore delicate handmade crafts and fun games, or even try traditional body art to immerse themselves in the distinct charm of these diverse cultures.

The lively interaction drew a large crowd of students, faculty, and off-campus visitors. Through the introductions by stall owners, participants gained deeper insights into the unique culinary and cultural traditions of different nations. Many visitors shared that the event allowed them to experience the joy of "traveling the world" and provided a more profound understanding of the cultural stories behind the cuisines.

The "2026 World Cultural & Food Festival" concluded successfully amidst laughter and joy. This event not only offered participants an exotic feast but also fostered a deep sense of understanding and inclusion of diverse cultures, serving as a concrete manifestation of NCKU’s significant progress in deepening its internationalization.
