President Meng-Ru Shen pointed out three major characteristics of NCKU that makes NCKU the first place in various independent rankings in Taiwan.

NCKU President Shen expressed that he makes a point to participate every year in alumni activities around the world, and that the strength of its alumni is the crucial to NCKU. NCKU has always kept humble and practical, but consistently stands out in the first place in various independent rankings in Taiwan. It was originally thought that the high rankings were due to NCKU students being particularly obedient and well-behaved. However, inquiries with evaluation organizations revealed three major characteristics of NCKU students: first, the power of teamwork; second, the level of acceptance of new things; and third, the resilience to rise again from setbacks. Coupled with the enthusiasm of over 200,000 alumni worldwide, it is believed that NCKU will thrive to become the most important university in the future.

NCKU Secretary General Wei-Cheng Lo delivered a school affairs report, pointing out that the university currently includes nine colleges in addition to the strategic Miin Wu School of Computing and the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing. Currently, the proportion of students between graduate programs and undergraduate program has reached 48:52. The planning of NCKU clearly shows its efforts towards academic excellence. It is hoped that support from alumni can be obtained in terms of various aspects such as interdisciplinary research, attracting international talent, ensuring students to study at ease, green campus initiatives, sports facilities, and the physical and mental health of faculty, staff, and students. NCKU alumni, together with their alma mater, continue to strive towards the centennial milestone.
