The Center for Technologies of Ubiquitous Computing and Humanity (TOUCH Center) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, held an opening ceremony for its first interactive photography exhibition on September 17th at NCKU Creative Art Exhibition Corridor as an attempt to bridge the gap between arts and technology and complement each other to tell a better story out of the image.

The exhibition, “Enjoy - Living in Tainan”, displays the themed photos of Tainan
taken by Professor Pei-Shan Shiau, an experienced photographer who teaches in the Department of Fine Arts at Tainan University of Technology.

Director Jar-Ferr Yang of TOUCH Center welcomed the guests and presents the exhibit officially, “TOUCH Center employing innovative cloud services and interactive display technology as its media is ready to serve for artist to create a new territory expressing human feelings and spice up the local culture.”

He added that with the boom of cloud communities and display technology, photography is now bringing people more opportunities to acquire feelings of being touched, enjoying, and sharing.

“Without the technology help from TOUCH Center, the show will be impossible,” said Shiau who added that the application of technology to arts is an add-up and through the interface provided the Center, the photos may tell a better story by interacting with the audience.

Shiau said that he used his mobile phone camera as a vehicle to keep track of everyday life and incorporate the soul of his art into the demonstration platform of technology.

The exhibition includes outdoor photo shooting activities, voting activities in exhibition, and exhibition guiding system development.

By means of interactive display, photo wall building, professional seminars, and outdoor photo-shooting activities, “Enjoy - Living in Tainan” has constructed a new aesthetics of slow living - the Tainan taste, with which people can enjoy and share their lives in Tainan, according to Shiau.

The Interactive exhibition space opens to the public every Friday and Saturday, September 14 to December 15, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at NCKU Creative Art Exhibition Corridor in Tzu-Chiang Campus, NCKU.
