NCKU facilitate Indonesian students for higher education

The Directorate General of High Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia (DIKTI) had funded 9 graduate students to Department of Nursing, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan.
Prof. John Pariwono, representative of the Indonesian Department of Higher Education on behalf of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Hwung-Hweng Hwung, president of NCKU, signed the DIKTI-NCKU Degree Scholarships Program recently.
The program aims at providing high quality postgraduate doctoral or master training in Taiwan and for further development of academic excellence and research collaborations between NCKU and Indonesian Universities.
Mr. Pariwono expressed his gratitude for NCKU providing prestigious medical teaching and research environment to cultivate Indonesian nursing professionals, and urged the Indonesian students at NCKU to endeavor to leaning for nursing accordingly.
For resolving the shortage in nurse staffing with master and doctoral degrees, enhancing the quality of care, the government of Indonesia has put great efforts in improving English proficiency of the nurses and helps them to study abroad, according to Ying-Ju Chang, director and associate professor of department of nursing, NCKU.
9 Indonesian students, 7 female and 2 male, have enrolled in department of nursing, NCKU for master degree this semester and 4 doctoral students will register this September.
Rifas Ahmad, the class leader, a nursing lecturer at Indonesia, who is happy with the opportunity of studying in NCKU said, NCKU with abundant research resources and numerous internationally distinguished professors is a prestigious university favored by Asian students.
Ahmad hails the solid curriculum and fruitful learning of the program which is tailored to the need of Indonesian nursing practice ranged from disaster nursing, sanitary nursing, sanitary administration, and nursing education.
Professor Miao-Feng Yan of nursing administration impressed by the 9 Indonesian eager learners said, a muslin oratory was set up for their religious need and Chinese courses are designed for their language need to help them to adapt better to life in Taiwan.
NCKU and Indonesia are looking to facilitate up to 50 Indonesian scholars who are permanent lecturers or agree to become permanent lecturers or Indonesian universities, to undertake master and doctoral degrees in their respective field of interest at NCKU.
Indonesia will provide awardees full tuition fees for a maximum period of 2 years for accepted master student and 3 years for accepted doctoral student and NCKU will offer the 3rd year of master study and 4th or 5th year of doctoral study through the scheme of NCKU Distinguished International Student scholarship, according to the program.enditem/
