National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) has unveiled a logo that will serve as the face of its 80th anniversary to be held on November 11th.

According to Art Center Director Wen-Jen Hsieh, the top 3 designs and 5 honorable mentions were chosen from more than 140 works by students from colleges such as Planning and Design, Liberal Arts and Engineering.

The logo which won the first prize in the competition features a bright banyan tree and the number of 80 and it will be seen in a series of activities related to the theme of the 80th anniversary.

“With a grass green banyan tree for background, my design focuses on the number of 80,” said Stacy Kuo, a 2nd-year student from the Institute of Industrial Design and the designer of the winning logo. “The 8 and 0 are interlocked to show the intimate relationship among the faculty, staff and students at NCKU.”

Stacy also revealed that she has designed a total of 8 different logos and handed in 3 of them in the competition, in which one won first prize and one won honorable mention.

“I’m very excited that my design will be the only image representing the 80th anniversary and be seen around the campus,” said Kuo.
