30 French Students Began Their Overseas Program at NCKU, Taiwan
Tainan, Taiwan, March 1st, 2011
A group of 30 students from Institute Polytechnique des Sciences Avancees (IPSA), France, began a four-month overseas program at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, starting this Tuesday.
The agreement on the overseas program was signed by General Director Herve Renaudeau of IPSA and Chairman Chin-Hsiang Cheng of NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics in July, 2010.
The students will participate in English-taught lectures from March to June for about 24 hours per week and a total of 344 hours in NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and NCKU Chinese Language Center.
In addition to lectures, the students will also participate in field trips in Tainan to understand this cultural and historical city.
“This is the first time that a large group of overseas exchange students from France studied at National Cheng Kung University,” said Prof. Chieh-Li Chen of NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
One of the students, Francois Khan, revealed that in the next four months he will take the opportunity to meet students from different ethnic backgrounds to expand his international perspective.
Melissa Achart, the only female student in the exchange group, said she is planning to visit all the famous spots in Taiwan and experience a culture distinct from European culture.
National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and Shenyang University, mainland China, are the only two universities in Asia collaborating with Institute Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées, France, for this program.
