NCKU Students Organized Farewell Party for President Lai
Tainan, Taiwan, December 24th, 2010
Students from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, have organized a winter banquet - the graduation ceremony of President Lai and his companions (Happy Lai, Happy Night!) for President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, who will leave his office at the end of January, in recognition of his care for the students in the past four years.
Student Yen-Yen Chen from Department of Business Administration, the chief organizer of the event, and members, including Yu-Chong Chang from Department of Economics, Cha-Chin Lin from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ming-Yueh Tsai from Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Yun-Hao Lin from Department of Resources Engineering and Chi-Chin Wang from Department of Earth Sciences, have presented a large invitation card to President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai in the Office of the President and personally invited him to attend the graduation ceremony.
Student Yen-Yen Chen from Department of Business Administration, the chief organizer of the event, expressed, “Before President Lai leaves his office at the end of January, the students decided to present a surprise night, which follows the same design of students’ graduation ceremony, but with President Lai as the leading character, hoping to give President Lai the greatest night ever.”
She also mentioned, “Under the leadership of President Lai, the academic teams with their pleasant attitudes are deeply respected by the students, and the students have strong feelings toward President Lai’s vitality and enthusiasm in caring for the students and participating in various students’ events.”
For example, after visiting Student Activity Center on his first day as the President of the university, President Lai had immediately reconstructed the Center for student clubs to have the best activity space and the opportunities to develop.
In addition, President Lai had almost never missed any student activity and he had spared time from his busy schedule to share students’ joy and understand their needs.
To convey their gratitude toward President Lai for his support in the past four years, NCKU Club Association has especially organized a winter banquet - the graduation ceremony of President Lai and his companions (Happy Lai, Happy Night!) to strengthen the bonds between teachers and students and to cultivate students’ mind of returning the hospitality that they have received.
Noteworthy to mention, after two months of preparation and mobilizing nearly one hundred people, students from National Cheng Kung University, including NCKU Club Association, NCKU Student Union and NCKU United Department Association, have voluntarily organized the graduation ceremony of President Lai, showing the joint forces of autonomous student organizations.
Besides planning a series of exciting programs, the students have also collected words of blessing from teachers and students as well as photos of past activities to make a hand-made souvenir album for President Lai.
