The Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, which has been devoting itself to the promotion and implementation of love and caring, has visited President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai before he leaves his office and presented a specially-made card in recognition of the enormous efforts of President Lai in promoting a humanistic campus.

In an A4 size card, members from the NCKU Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club have revealed their sincere gratitude toward President Lai in words of blessing, thanking President Lai for his warm smile, his care for the teachers and students, and his great support for the student activities.

“President Lai has always been supportive of the club activities. In the past two years, President Lai and his wife have attended the Mother’s Day and Teacher’s Day events organized by Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club and put on music performance. Thus, before President Lai leaves the office, we want to show our deep appreciation in action and personally bring the card to President Lai,” said President Yu-Ting Fang of NCKU Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club.

President Yu-Ting Fang has also mentioned that when she started as a freshman at the university, her mother had just passed away and she felt lost in the unfamiliar environment, but teachers and classmates in the Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club have kindly offered assistance to help her pass that depressed period.

NCKU Prof. Heiu-Jou Shaw of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering, the supervising teacher of the Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club, believed, “The 21st century is an era of the mind. In the time of material abundance, it is difficult to experience the importance of the mind. Thus, we hope to promote the implementation of the mind and simultaneously try to avoid religious background.”

NCKU Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club organizes youth camp every winter break and summer break, where members will act as volunteers to share the lectures of life and truth.

In addition, the members will have lunch together every Thursday, where a senior member will host the meeting and share episodes of his or her life, and they will also organize extra activities, such as study groups, guitar lessons and bicycle riding, to provide students with an opportunity to learn from different fields and expand interpersonal relationships.

President Lai not only acknowledges the power of student clubs and recognizes the mutual support of teachers and students in the clubs as a practical moral education, he also urges students to continue club activities to bring more power of love and caring for the surrounding people.

The NCKU Bliss and Wisdom Youth Club, which changed its name from NCKU Oriental Philosophy Club on November 12th, 2008, currently has approximately 50 members.
