The 10th South Taiwan Film Festival Presented Awards at NCKU

The awarding ceremony of the 10th South Taiwan Film Festival was held at Art Center of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, and the film “Hand in Hand”, directed by the couple Lan-Chuan Yen and Yi-Tzeng Juang, which has won first prize in 2010 Taiwan International Documentary Festival, has once again won the grand prize in 2010 South Taiwan Film Festival South Award—Chinese Films Competition.

The winning documentary “Hand in Hand”, directed by the couple Lan-Chuan Yen and Yi-Tzeng Juang, focuses on the love story between Dr. Tian and Mrs. Tian, beginning with their romance and then describing how passionately Mrs. Tian takes care of her husband, thus showing a symphony of life’s bitterness and sweetness and its difficulties and simplicities.

The 10th South Taiwan Film Festival, which was held at 7pm on December 11th, has covered nearly 300 drama, documentary and animated films by Chinese directors from Singapore, Malaysia, United States and France, and NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, Director Qong-Rui Xiao of NCKU Art Center and many young directors have attended the awarding ceremony.

The South Taiwan Film Festival, is an annual must-see cinema event for movie goers in Southern Taiwan which aims to offer a feast of films and develop great interest in local film in South Taiwan.

The South Taiwan Film Festival South Award—Chinese Films Competition, established in 2003, has been acclaimed by the film industry, aiming to encourage more potential filmmakers and hoping to discover talents in mandarin-spoken areas and provide these people from different societies with further opportunities for experience sharing.
