NCKU and CUHK Signed Academic Exchange Agreement
Tainan, Taiwan, November 1st, 2010
President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Vice-Chancellor Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung of Chinese University Hong Kong (CUHK) have signed Academic Exchange Agreement and Student Exchange Program, hoping to promote faculty visits and student exchange, organize academic and teaching conferences, cooperate in scientific research and share academic information and thus reaching the goal of comprehensive cooperation.
The signing ceremony is held on November 1st in the 2nd Meeting Room, fourth floor of Yunping Building, Kuang-Fu Campus, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, where NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, Vice-President for Academic Affairs Ming-Jer Tang, Associate Vice-President Cheng-Hung Huang for International Affairs, Dean Chung-Hsiung Lai of College of Liberal Arts, Associate Dean Jui-Hsiang Liu of College of Engineering, Yon-Hua Tzeng of College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Associate Dean Feng-Hwa Wu of College of Planning and Design, Dean Yu-Hern Chang of College of Management, Dean Chyi-Her Lin of College of Medicine, Dean Chih-Chin Ho of College of Social Sciences, Director Hua Tai of Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences and Director Jeng-Chung Chen of International Relation Division have attended the ceremony, illustrating the high expectations of NCKU and CUHK for the mutual cooperation.
NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai first expressed his sincere welcome for the guests from Chinese University of Hong Kong, “It is a rare opportunity that deans from both universities have gathered together to discuss and explore the future cooperation between NCKU and CUHK.”
CUHK Vice-Chancellor Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung mentioned, “National Cheng Kung University is one of the top universities in Taiwan and the best university in Southern Taiwan. Thus, in addition to cooperate on the five categories of Chinese culture research, information technology, life science, environmental protection and finance, I also hope to find fields of mutual interests and expand our cooperation on existing grounds and take part in the Five Year Five Billion project of NCKU.”
In terms of student exchange program, beginning in the academic year of 2012, both sides agreed to each send a full-term undergraduate student to the other university annually. CUHK can send two students for an exchange of one semester or a student for an exchange of one academic year to NCKU. NCKU can send one full-time student to CUHK for an exchange of one academic year.
