With so many artistic works and artistic events, I believe everyone has recognized that NCKU campus has progressed toward a humanistic campus. NCKU started with the College of Engineering, thus having a masculine aura. However, in the past few years, it has transformed into a campus which embodies romantic atmosphere, soothing the mood and emotions of teachers and students.”
President Lai also mentioned, “NCKU has improved its hardware and software equipments. For instance, the Student Activity Center has just completed its renovation and Cheng-Kung Hall is currently under reconstruction. We hope NCKU campus can become a humanistic and artistic campus. This is the promise I made four years ago when I arrived at NCKU. I hope teachers and students can do research and engage in studies under a beautiful and wonderful environment.”
In addition to hardware and software equipments, NCKU has promoted various artistic and music events, and the annual Performing Arts Festival is one of them. President Lai said, “I hope all the faculty and students can long for music, yearn for arts and aspire to humanistic activities. This is one of my educational goals at NCKU. This goal will last forever and there will be many art festivals to look forward to each year. NCKU welcomes the community and the local citizens to come to NCKU to appreciate the art and enjoy the music. I hope in addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a university to the community, NCKU can also bring up the artistic atmosphere of Tainan and Southern Taiwan.”
