A group of international students from the Institute of International Business Administration at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, has hosted a Blood Drive in front of the Student Activity Center, Kuang-Fu Campus, NCKU, attracting many students and even members from NCKU Taekwondo Club to make blood donations to contribute to the society.

NCKU IMBA students Devon Banks and Thomas Bailey have organized this campaign to promote the awareness of blood donation and to give back to the community of Tainan.

Devon Banks, a foreign student from Canada and one of the organizers of the NCKU Blood Drive, expressed, “NCKU IMBA hopes to attract many teachers and students and even citizens to donate blood, so we can reach 1000 donations before June, 2011. We have reached approximately 200 donations so far. Prizes from local businesses will be given to winners of the draw. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, we have prizes such as an amazing dinner for two and Blood Drive T-shirt to give out.”

The purpose of the Blood Drive is to promote the importance of blood donation for the world to treat this issue seriously. Devon Banks also emphasized, “In addition to contribute to the community and groups, the event should also provide opportunities for students to act as volunteers and gain rewarding experiences.”

NCKU Institute of International Business Administration is the largest program for international students in Taiwan. With students from over 40 countries, the IMBA is unique in Taiwan.
