Tainan, Taiwan, August 6th, 2010
The Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association was officially established on July 31st, 2010, with President Chin-Cheng Lee of National Quemoy University (NQU) as the first President and Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee of Kinmen County as the first Executive Director.
NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, Director Shyh-Yu Shaw of NCKU Alumni Association Center, President Ching-Yang Su of NCKU Alumni Association of Taipei, President C. Y. Lin of NCKU Taichung Alumni Association and other alumni have attended the General Assembly of the Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association held on July 31st.
Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee of Kinmen County, President Chin-Cheng Lee of National Quemoy University, as well as alumni who travelled from Malaysia, have also attended the General Assembly and witnessed the historical moment with dozens of guests.
During the General Assembly, NQU President Chin-Cheng Lee was appointed as the first President of the Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association and the first Board Meeting was also held, electing nine directors, three alternate directors, three supervisors and one alternate supervisor.
NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai revealed, “The establishment of Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association has a significant meaning for National Cheng Kung University. NCKU Alumni have strong centripetal force and spirit of mutual support. Alumni from Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Malaysia have all come to celebrate the moment.”
President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai encouraged alumni to visit their alma mater frequently to observe its recent progress and transformation since alumni is the most important asset of the university, and he also expected the establishment of the Alumni Association to bring the spirit of NCKU to Kinmen and spread it to mainland China, Southeast Asia, and even the entire world.
Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee of Kinmen County said, “The General Assembly of Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association was held one day prior to the upgrade of National Quemoy University, thus it was particularly meaningful. Thirty years ago, I’ve come to Tainan to study. I’m glad that thirty years later, we can reunite again and together witness the establishment of the Alumni Association. I’m also grateful for the full support of my alma mater and President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, which motivated the progress of medical treatment and construction in Kinmen.”
Director Shyh-Yu Shaw of NCKU Alumni Association Center believed, “The existing academic cooperation between National Cheng Kung University and Kinmen will help elevate the medical treatment quality in Kinmen County. The establishment of the Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association will allow the relationship between NCKU and Kinmen to become more intimate and it will also create an innovative Kinmen-Xiamen living area. The Kinmen-NCKU Alumni Association is the 31st Alumni Association of NCKU and it currently has 46 registered members. In the future, I expect more NCKU alumni to join the Alumni Association and seek more benefits for Kinmen residents.”
