NCKU President Lai Appointed as the 5th Chairman of Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park

The first Council Meeting of the 5th Academia-University Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park elected Tajen University President Shan-Hwei Ou, Industrial Technology Research Institute South Executive Shing-Yuan Tsai, National Cheng Kung University President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai, Southern Taiwan University President Chien Tai, National University of Kaohsiung President Ing-Chung Huang, Kun Shan University President Yan-Kuin Su and I-Shou University President Shen-Li Fu as executive directors and appointed NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai as the Chairman.
As the 4th Chairman of Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park, NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai has promoted academia-industry research cooperation and talents training. The current member number has reached 68, including academic institutions and research institutions in Southern Taiwan, Southern Taiwan Science Park Administration and enterprises. The appointment of President Lai as the 5th Chairman from the 7 executive directors revealed the recognition of his excellent achievements.
Chairman Lai expressed, “The Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park will devote itself to increase the cooperation opportunities between academia, industry and research institutions, enhance its comprehensive development and elevate the competitiveness of national high-tech industry to match the international standards.”
The purpose of the establishment of Academia-Industry Consortium for Southern Taiwan Science Park is to integrate the related units in Southern Taiwan Science Park, academic institutions, research institutions and technological enterprises, jointly promote academic-industry research and development and elevate the competitiveness of national high-tech industry. The Consortium has established biotechnology, semiconductors, optoelectronics, communications and human resources promotion committees, assisting the Administration Bureau in training professional and technical personnel, elevating the staff quality, organizing various seminars and establishing a positive and close interactive relationship.
