He believed the outstanding picture quality, high resolution, diverse size and low prize are major factors for the success and wise use of TFT-LCD industry.
The key factors for the quick success of TFT-LCD industry in Taiwan include the experience and talents of Taiwan's IC manufacturing industry and PC manufacturing, the opportunity brought by the 2008 financial crisis and the advantages of the larger environment, such as funds, government policies, personnel training, component supply chain, etc. Dr. Fang-Chen Luo emphasized, “The current technology of TFT-LCD still needs further improvement, including static and dynamic comparison, color saturation, response speed, less power consumption as well as lighter and thinner materials. In the future, we will focus more on thinness and low-power consumption.”
Additional Information:
AUO Deputy General Fang-Chen Luo graduated from Department of Electrical Engineering in National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and obtained his doctoral degree in Northwestern University, U.S., in 1973. He has conducted research projects in American enterprises such as Westinghouse, Xerox and GE.
