NCKU World Heritage Exhibition Began on March 15th
Tainan, Taiwan, March 19th, 2010
NCKU World Heritage Exhibition is held from March 15th to April 6th in National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. Cultural characteristics of different nations are displayed, including traditional costumes, paintings, accessories, coins, instruments, life appliances, mascots, puppets, etc, attracting many students and local citizens.
The 10 costumes and 60 items displayed in the exhibition consist of Macao Tower, Ruins of St. Paul's, Portuguese-style Chicken of Golden Lotus Square, Avalokitesvara Statue, Myanmar sand painting, Myanmar traditional puppet, Myanmar Pagoda postcard, Myanmar traditional costumes, Myanmar jade accessories, Korean children’s clothing and accessories, Artesania de cuero, glass hookah tank, Egyptian God Anubis statue, Egyptian Goddess Base statue, traditional ethnic batik, Sunda tribe traditional costumes, batik fans, batik slippers, Indonesian shadow play, Indonesian ancient instrument Kolintang, masks, Ulos traditional costumes, Indonesian fish bond sword, Dutch sabot, painted ostrich eggs, Thailand costumes, corozo nut carving, the 1998 The Commonwealth Games mascot, Batik, Congkak, tin instruments, Wau Bulan, Koran bookshelf, etc.
These historical pieces from Macao, Myanmar, Korea, Paraguay, Egypt, Java, Indonesia, Netherlands, South Africa, Thailand, Guatemala and Malaysia are provided by NCKU Overseas Chinese Students Supervision Division, International Student Affairs Division and Chinese Language Center.
The World Heritage Exhibition is one of the series of events of NCKU 2010 International Carnival. The opening ceremony from 9:30am to 10:00am, March 20th, was held in the Yun-Ping Building plaza. The Food Festival from 10:00am to 4:00pm had 9 sections and 21 booths. The Exotic Talent Show from 11:00am to 15:15 presented Indonesian, Macao and Thai singings and dance. The Travel Information Fair had 7 countries and 8 booths and students acting as travel guides to explain the local heritage and travel information.
