THU President Gu Visited NCKU President Lai for Cooperation Expansion
Tainan, Taiwan, March 15th, 2010
A delegation from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, led by President Bing-Lin Gu, visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and met NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai on March 15th. They expected to establish a more intimate relationship and to expand the exchange students’ program in the future.
President Bing-Lin Gu expressed that, after the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, permits the credits taken in mainland China, National Cheng Kung University will play a crucial role in the student exchanges for undergraduate students as well as graduate students. He hoped to increase the exchange between graduate students and the cooperation on joint research projects.
In response to President Gu’s idea, President Lai agreed that both universities should find more topics on student exchange and develop more cooperative projects. He also welcomed THU students to come to Tainan, the center of rich culture and history.
The THU delegation led by President Bing-Lin Gu included Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Yi, Associate Dean of Scientific Research Institution Pei-Xue Jiang, Director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office Guang-Zhi Xia, Project Director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office Ren Lei and Administrative Assistant of the President Jin-Song Zhao.
After their meeting with President Lai, President Bing-Lin Gu and Administrative Assistant of the President Jin-Song Zhao left NCKU while other four members visited Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Office of Research and Development and Office of International Affairs to further discuss matters related to cooperation expansion.
