Kinmen County Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee Discussed Future Cooperation with NCKU Engineering Professors

The Kinmen County Government delegation led by Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee visited Prof. Wen-Tung Wu, Dean of College of Engineering in National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, on March 9th. They discussed the direction and topics of future cooperation and reached a preliminary agreement on starting with solar cells and small wind turbines to promote the development of new technology industry in Kinmen.
Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee expressed, NCKU has many experts in the fields of energy, water resources, aviation, urban planning and marine, and he expected the university to offer support and assistance to Kinmen. Kinmen County Magistrate Wo-Shi Lee and National Kinmen Institute of Technology President Chin-Cheng Lee are both alumni of NCKU. With a long-term mutual cooperative relationship, they hoped their alma mater can form a professional team to assess the possible directions of future developments in Kinmen.
Magistrate Lee also consulted Prof. Wen-Tung Wu, Dean of College of Engineering, NCKU, about matters related to the promotion of new technology industry in Kinmen, including green energy and solar energy. He explained, the project to develop Kinmen into an international leisure island has encountered several problems such as urban planning, marine management and shipping transportation. These issues required the opinions and technical support of experts.
In response to the problems Magistrate Lee raised, professors from the College of Engineering, including Dean Wen-Tung Wu, Associate Dean Pao-Shan Yu, former Dean Ke-Yang Li, Chairman of Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering G.. P. Too, Chairman of Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Chieh-Li Chen, Prof. Ming-Chung Fang, Prof. Ru-Min Chao, Prof. Heiu-Jou Shaw, Prof. Hong-Wen Wu, Adjunct Prof. Pan-An Lu, Adjunct Prof. Cheng-Ching Huang, Associate Prof. Chung-Hung Lin, Associate Prof. Min-Fu Hsieh and Assistant Prof. Sheng-Chih Shen, have agreed to begin with solar cells and small wind turbines and provide a complete operation method after further site assessment.
Prof. Wen-Tung Wu said, the College of Engineering has many professional talents in the fields of energy, water resources as well as medical engineering, and they can provide ideas related the issues of energy security and economic environment. Once the development direction and conditions in Kinmen have been affirmed, the College of Engineering in NCKU will offer its assistance.
