Prof. Kuo-Feng Ssu (斯國峰) and Prof. Chin-Shou Wang (王金壽) of NCKU received “2009 National Science Council Ta-You Wu Memorial Award”

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Prof. Kuo-Feng Ssu (斯國峰) from Dept. of Electrical Engineering with outstanding achievement in computer science and internet, and Prof. Chin-Shou Wang (王金壽) from Dept. of Political Science with great performance in political sociology both received “2009 National Science Council (NSC) Ta-You Wu (吳大猷) Memorial Award”. NCKU President, Academician Michael Ming-Chiao Lai (賴明詔) personally awarded medals in recognition of their great affirmation. They both received a medal and the research supplements of $NT500, 000 from NSC every year for the next three years.
Prof. Ssu (斯國峰) conferred with Bachelor Degree from Dept. of Computer Science, National Chung Tung University (NCTU), and Doctor Degree from Dept. of Computer Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He assumed the duties as a research assistant in US Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory; a research assistant in Coordinated Science Laboratory, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; a consultant in eCorpServ Taiwan Limited and an associate professor in School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Cornell University.
Prof. Ssu (斯國峰)’s specialties are Mobile Computing and Wireless Networking, Dependable Systems and Networks, and Parallel and Distributed Systems. All technologies are available for home preservation, health care, biological monitoring, environmental measurement and national defense and military. In addition, Prof. Ssu (斯國峰) received many awards as “Member of Phi Tau Phi Honor Scholastic Society” “One of Four Best Papers, IEEE Pacific Rim International Symposium on Dependable Computing (Selected for immediate publication for IEEE Transactions on Reliability)” “Lam Research Thesis Award of NCKU” “K. T. Li Research Award of NCKU” in recognition of his outstanding achievement.

“I really appreciated receiving the Ta-You Wu Memorial Award. This is the first time it has been awarded to a person who studied in political science. I would like to thank all interviewees who shared their stories in my research project. To be honest, I was not able to finish this project without their sharing. Moreover, I also appreciated Mr. Tai-Lang Lu (呂太郎), who is a judge, and Mr. Rui-Ren Chen (陳瑞仁), who is a prosecutor, who were the interviewees in my research project. Ta-You Wu Memorial Award is an award to encourage the academic research and develop young researchers for the long-term investment, and also memorized the scientific and technological contribution of Mr. Ta-You Wu. There will be 35 people chosen from every university each year.
