Tainan, TAIWAN, Sep 18 --- International students are coming to NCKU along with new semester!! With a multiple number of foreign students increasing in National Cheng Kung University, and to help incoming international students get acquainted with the campuses, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) of NCKU, Taiwan, organized various culture, history and ecology tours over the NCKU campuses. Among these, the history tour was held at Sep 18th.
There are full of international students of various races, with different colors of hair, eyes, complexion and appearance, from all over the world joining the campus tour. It is such like a little United Nations.
This campus tour of around 90 minutes was led by Ms. Chia-Ling Chen, a volunteer of the NCKU Museum. The route started from the NCKU Museum, along with Yoyo Pond, Department of Physics, cross underground passage to Kuang-Fu campus, Small East Gate Remains, Small West Gate, Cheng Kung Lake, College of Liberal Arts’ Museum of History, Lishien Building, Dachen Hall and Department of History, and finally ended at Banyan Garden. All the international students were not only surprised and curious with the historical building and campus environment, but also with Chinese characters. For example, when they stopped at Small East Gate Remains and Small West Gate with some unclear Chinese words carved, they were curious and asked the meanings of those Chinese words.
Ruslan Salimov from Russia, a freshman in the Institute of International Management and Business Administration, enjoyed himself so much with the beauty of Cheng Kung Lake and commented that it is the most beautiful scenery in NCKU. A Singaporean exchange student to the Department of Mathematics, Ms. Ling-Xnan Lee, mentioned that the campus in NCKU is huge and each department has its own building, as well as all buildings are old and historical.
