NCKU Vietnam Cultural Week Kick Off

Tainan, TAIWAN, May 5, 2009 --- The National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) will kick off the annual Vietnam Cultural Week 2009 from 7th to 9th of May with a series of events held in NCKU, including Vietnamese cuisine "Pho", folk games, photo exhibition, Vietnamese movies and music festival.

Vietnam Cultural Week, organized by NCKU Vietnam Students Association, aims to introduce, promote and exchange the culture amongst Vietnamese, local and international friends. During the opening ceremony on May 7th, the introduction of Vietnamese cuisine "Pho" will be presented in front of NCKU activity center.

From May 7th to 8th, there are Vietnamese Movies, showcasing the famous Vietnamese movies, such as "The Rebel", "why is there no moon in the daytime?".

Apart from movies and food, Vietnamese students also hold photo exhibition and design folk games so that other local and international students can experience the Vietnamese rich culture.

The last performance of the Vietnam Cultural Week, namely the musical festival, will be presented on May 9th, performing the traditional Vietnamese dances and music together with Vietnamese students from National Taiwan Normal University and Tainan University of Technology.

Vietnam Cultural Week is sponsored by Tainan City Government, Taiwanese Romanization Association, Taiwan Association of Southern Asian Studies, and Vietnamese Association Taiwan Office. Vietnamese Students Association at NCKU was established at 2006. There are currently 51 Vietnamese students enrolled in NCKU, most of them in doctoral and master’s programs.
