NCKU Hold Anti-Heroin Policy Forum to Build Consensus
TAINAN, Taiwan July 16, 2008—A forum co-organized by College of Social Science, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU)and Taiwan Competitiveness Forum on the anti-heroin drug was held yesterday (July 16) with the aim to raising public awareness of drug usage and trafficking.
Besides discussing the prevention of drug usage and trafficking that will be considered the important issue in the 21st century, this conference also featured the Mrs. Ching-feng, Wang, Minister of Justice and Dr. Yen, Vice Magistrate of Tainan County as keynote speakers and professor Da Hsuan, Feng, Vice President of NCKU as a host.
“If we cannot totally eliminate the enemy behind this war, then the 21st century can in fact be lost!”, quoted from lecture of professor Da Hsuan, Feng, Vice President of NCKU, he compare drug abuse with enemy of 21st century. “To win this war, it will take a colossal, collective and global effort of “education,” and “law enforcement.” Civilized societies and nations must develop workable and sane public policies and strategies to battle this ugly enemy”, Professor Da Hsuan, Feng added.
According to statistics, the number of heroin drug ring police busted rise rapidly from 2003. The government should take effective measure to prevent drug abuse and trafficking as well as to alleviate drug addicts, Mrs. Ching-feng, Wang, Minister of Justice said.
