National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) recently hosted a delegation from Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT), led by President Nariman Farvardin, alongside representatives from Taiwan's Ministry of Education. Welcoming the guests, Executive Vice President Shyy-Woei Chang highlighted a shared ethos of applying knowledge to tackle real-world challenges. Highly praising NCKU’s R&D capabilities and industry linkages, the SIT delegation agreed to initiate course alignment, establish "3+2 Dual Degree Programs," and launch summer semiconductor study initiatives to cultivate high-tech talent.

Executive Vice President Shyy-Woei Chang and President Farvardin share their perspectives.
Vice Dean Tian-Shiang Yang highlighted that College of Engineering as NCKU's founding and largest college, it has cultivated over 150,000 key industry talents over its 95-year history. Deeply connected with top global academic institutions and enterprises, the college provides abundant internships and direct employment pathways, contributing to NCKU graduates being consistently voted as the most preferred by enterprises.
Dean Felix Wu pointed out that NCKU is the only university in Taiwan capable of independently launching 8 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites and has achieved an exceptionally high proposal approval rate under the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) "Taiwan Chip-based Industrial Innovation Program." Beyond its deep collaboration with TSMC, NCKU established a joint R&D center with Wistron—focusing on Generative AI, Physical AI, and smart manufacturing—and collaborates with major server manufacturer Wiwynn on core technology development.
Director Wen-Shan Lin of the International Affairs Center stated that the college is vigorously advancing interdisciplinary curricula combining Data Science and AI. Through its Center for Enterprise Innovation and Sustainability, it guides students in practicing ESG, with the award-winning alumni startup "ECOCO Smart Recycling Machine" serving as a prime model for promoting the circular economy.
Building on NCKU's benchmark "3+1+1" program with Purdue University, SIT President Farvardin emphasized that NCKU's leadership in semiconductors, AI, and engineering is immensely attractive to American students. Both universities will set up dedicated contact windows to advance 3+2 dual degrees, furthering NCKU’s vision of "Deep Local Roots, Global Impact."

NCKU and SIT open up the academic and research collaboration channel.
