NCKU Hosts LET’S BOOM! To Show Results Of Cultivating Taiwanese Talents In The Humanities And Social Sciences-wn
The Ministry of Education has initiated a special program, namely, Cultivating Taiwanese Talents in the Humanities and Social Sciences, integrating existent resources to create a platform for learning. The result of the program was presented recently at C-Hub in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan.
NCKU held the 2016 program's result presentation conference titled LET'S BOOM! at C-Hub on January 21.
A series of activities including exhibitions, forums, performance and experience-interaction was organized, allowing the audience to see the possibility in the realm of humanities and social sciences.
In response to the impact of globalization and development of digital networking, humanities and social sciences assume different roles in 21st century, according to the Ministry of Education.
Talented young people are imperatively needed to take up cultural heritages, to broaden their scopes, and to present themselves to both domestic and international communities.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su attended the opening ceremony and commented, 'Patience and discipline are essential in education.'
President Su also noted that to kick off the program the university invited professors mostly from engineering background to involve in the program in the very beginning and later on professors of social sciences started to take part.
In the program, a total of six projects that target students and teachers from high schools, colleges to graduate institutes are set up to enhance the basic knowledge, practical abilities and research capacities of respective participants.
The result presentation conference included an exhibition covering five themes - literature, community care, aging, ancient art and crafts, and food.
Through static display, performance, forums, experience-interaction and more, the result conference aimed to inspire young people to develop new understandings about humanistic and social sciences.
