NCKU hosts positive people planet design workshop
Tainan, Taiwan January 17, 2016
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) recently hosted a social design plus circular economy workshop in collaboration with Dutch designers.
Wouter Kalis and Corinne de Korver from MIN-studio, an Amsterdam-based design studio, stayed at the Taiwan Dutch Design Post this month for collaboration with NCKU.
This led to a Betwin forum and a workshop at C-Hub in which twenty-five students and various experts contributed. The name of both events was ‘Positive People Planet Design’.
Jay Huang from Howdy Creative (好心地文創) brought everyone together via design thinking on helping indigent people in Tainan.
These people are often homeless and need some aid; in this workshop new solutions were designed. To understand indigent people better, contributions were made by Homeless Taiwan (芒草心慈善協會) and En You (台南恩友 窮人朋友).
This event included a lunch at En You, where to students became friends with indigent people.
Big plans were forged, such as renovating empty buildings into self-sustaining eco-parks through a program with contributing indigent people, but also its first concrete steps to create a better understanding and respect of underprivileged people.
