Applied Materials corporate vice president to talk in NCKU

Erix Yu, Applied Materials corporate vice president of Silicon Systems Group and president of Applied Materials Taiwan, will give a talk at 3:30-5:00 pm, December 29, at the second lecture hall of the International Conference Hall, Kung-Fu Campus, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU).

The talk titled “Shaping the Future” is the tenth of a series of NCKU R&D Forum in 2016.

Erix Yu earned both bachelor of sciences and master of sciences degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from NCKU.

He had received 2014 NCKU Outstanding Alumni Award.

Yu is appointed general manager of Semiconductor -Global Accounts and president of Applied Materials Taiwan since 2009.

He was named account general manager of Memory and the United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) accounts in July 2007. Before this position, he was in charge of UMC and Taiwan Regional Account since November 2006, where he is responsible for growing market acceptance on advanced technologies for Applied Materials.

Yu first joined Applied Materials in 1993, as an account general manager, and later served as appointed vice president and account general manager of UMC from 2003-2006, leading the company to technological advancements in several tools including Blok and Oasis.

Prior to joining Applied Materials, Mr. Yu worked for OPTO TECH Corporation as a sales engineer. Mr. Yu is currently the vice chairman of Hsinchu Professional Managers Association as well as the head of Semiconductor Committee. He also is one of the board members of SEMI Taiwan PV committee.

Applied Materials Taiwan Ltd. is the subsidiary of Applied Materials Inc. and was founded in 1989. The subsidiary company is headquartered in the Hsinchu Science Park and has a manufacturing center for display equipment in the Southern Taiwan Science Park.

The company's parts and components distribution center, the only one in Asia, is located in Taoyuan, while sales and service offices are based in Linkou and Taichung. The Taiwan subsidiary has more than 900 employees, making it the island's largest supplier of semiconductor equipment and services.
