Mecanoo Director Elad Eisenstein To Talk About Cities At NCKU-wn
Elad Eisenstein, director urban design at Mecanoo, a Netherlands based architecture firm, will give a lecture titled 'People Place Purpose: Preparing cities for change' at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, on July 28.
Over the course of the lecture Elad will explore the key characteristics of change in world cities. The greater complexity and mix dominating most urban environments today results in enormous change in cities. Architects, urban planners, developers and city governments are challenged to respond to these changing conditions and allow cities to productively renew and expand.
Reflecting on his experience from cities worldwide, as well as Mecanoo's recent work which includes designs for the new Tainan Public Library, Elad will discuss the tools and creative thought process applied to maximise the potential of change and stimulate meaningful, wider urban transformation.
The lecture is organized by NCKU's Department of Urban Planning, starting at 4 p.m. in the Auditorium (RM 50102).
