NCKU students win second price in future energy challenge
Tainan, Taiwan, July 21, 2016
A group of students led by Prof. Tsorng-Juu Liang from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) won the second place at the IEEE 2016 International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC).
The IFEC is an international student competition for innovation, conservation and effective use of electrical energy, which is open to college and university student teams from recognized engineering programs in any location.
The team made it to the IFEC's final competition for High Power Density AC-DC Converter, held at National Taiwan University, Taiwan, July 18-20.
The team had spent a year to design a power convertor which can improve the power-conversion efficiency. “After many power tests, the design is proved to meet the required standard,” according to Prof. Tsorng-Juu Liang, the team’s advisor.
A total of 23 teams from Germany, America, India, China, also participated in the competition.
