NCKU’s badminton team shines at 2016 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games
Tainan, Taiwan, July 12, 2016
NCKU Badminton Team achieved outstanding performance, making the defending champion in girls’ team and winning the third places in boys’ team at 2016 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games in Taitung, the university revealed recently.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su cheered for the students when she visited the competition. She was delighted to see the students’ performance saying, NCKU Badminton Team has the best ever record this year and some of them even break national records.
I’m happy to see that students are able to strike a balance between their academy and sport, said Su adding, “We hope to offer a better environment for students to develop their skills in sports.”
The coaching team was very impressed by the students’ spontaneity. They pointed out, “Apart from coaching team’s instruction, students’ self-learning is the key to success. The exercise was only two times a week, but students would practice every noon on their own initiative, mutually help one another. On the weekend, they would organize badminton Friendlies with other school.”
