Tainan, Taiwan, June 29, 2016
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Center for Innovative Engineering Education was set up on the 7th floor at College of Engineering, which is donated by its alumnus Hong-Tu Shih, President of Baiching Construction Corporation.
President Huey-Jen Jenny Su showed her gratitude for the contribution of Shih on the open ceremony. “I really appreciate Shih’s support for NCKU. I believe the institute will bring NCKU unlimited possibilities and make NCKU continue to progress. I hope other alumni can also support NCKU like Shih does.”
Shih said, “I graduated from Department of Mechanical Engineering at NCKU, and studied at the graduate school of architecture at NCKU, too. My sons and sons-in-law also graduated from NCKU. We really has a deep relation with NCKU. I am very grateful that NCKU would give me an opportunity to set up the institute. I hope students and teachers can feel free to exchange their ideas here. Finally, I also hope that there will be more alumni supporting our school.”
Prof. Pao-Shan Yu, Dean of College of Engineering, pointed out, “Although Creative Engineering Education Institute is at College of Engineering, students and teachers from other colleges are also very welcome to visit here.”
“We are now executing the project of Minister of Education, which aims to cultivate talents. The project integrates College of Engineering, Institute of Education, and Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. We need a space for discussion and brainstorming, and thanks for Shih’s support, our needs can be fulfilled,” Yu added.
