Vietnam’s DTU provost visits NCKU for future collaboration - Public.

A delegation from Duy Tân University (DTU), a private university in Vietnam, visited National Cheng University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, on June 13 to facilitate better understanding and more international cooperation.
DTU Provost Le Cong Co, Vice Provost Le Nguyen Tue Hang, and Vice Dean of International School Ha Thi Nhu Hang had a meeting with NCKU Vice President Cheng-Hung Huang, and faculty from the nursing department and foreign language department.
NCKU Vice President Huang on behalf of NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su welcomed the delegation.
Vice Provost Le Nguyen Tue Hang said, 'It's great for us to meet you today, so that we can discuss about collaboration for nursing.'
Huang responded, 'our department of nursing holds a very successful nursing program for Indonesia. We could develop more collaboration on this base.'
Prof. Miao-fen Yen from the Department of Nursing in NCKU, said, 'In our department, we offer nursing graduate program. It's master level and PhD level taught in English.'
There were two students from Vietnam graduated from our program in master. In the coming semester, there will be one coming for doctoral program, she added.
Le Nguyen Tue Hang said, 'We have about 1000 faculties and staffs so far. At our university, in order to improve the quality, we have two tracks. One track is in Vietnamese, and in another track is in English.'
According to Yen, 'It has been five years that we have this master program for nursing students. We call that tailor-made program. We provide courses like disaster nursing, infection disease, chronic disease for those needs from Indonesia.'
Now we try to adapt that more internationally to fit with the South-Asia area, Yen noted.
Nursing is a new concept to Vietnam, said Le Nguyen Tue Hang, In Vietnam, we didn't have the nursing program ten years ago. That's why we only have the bachelors in nursing right now in Vietnam.
If we can send our faculty to here for masters or PhDs, that would be really great, she added. 'We are interested in opening a master program in collaboration with other universities.'
