East Asia Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Workshop kicks off at NCKU - Public.
The 6th East Asia Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Workshop hosted by NCKU Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics kicks off June 3 at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan.
In addition to the plenary lectures, the event includes student sessions to show the latest research findings from Hokkaido University, Korea University, The Honk Kong Polytechnic University, and NCKU.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Tung-Yang Chen, Executive Vice President of NCKU, on behalf of President Huey-Jen Jenny Su welcomed the guests and said that it is nice to have four top universities join together to form the alliance and partnership.
The East Asia Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Workshop was started in the year of 2011when the first event was held in Korea University and the second one took place at NCKU, according to Chen.
Dr. Chin-Hsiang Cheng, Chairman of Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics (DAA), said, 'A total of nine students from Korea University, four students from Hokkaido University and from NCKU we have more than 30 students. They are easy to make friends with people from other countries.'
It's really amazing that they can know each other in the short period of time, said Cheng, I think if we can encourage the students to participate, that will become a very important point for this workshop.
Prof. Yukinori Kobayashi from Hokkaido University said, 'This workshop has been a very fruitful event for all of us. Every year we meet, share research results, discuss questions, and make friends.'
Prof. Daehie Hong from the Korea University said, 'the four universities from Taiwan, Japan, Honk Kong and Korea have a very close relationship and this is the sixth workshop and we will discuss more details based on the results from previous workshops.'
After opening ceremony, three plenary lectures are delivered respectively by Prof. Yukinori Kobayashi, Prof. Daehie Hong, and Prof. Zhong Qing Su from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
In his plenary talk, Kobayashi noted that each year more than 30 students visit Hokkaido to attend in summer program and more than 10 Hokkaido University students visit partner universities to attend in spring program at ASEAN university.
On June 4, there will be students section, said Cheng. 'We have five student sections where they will give presentation in five minutes, and then they have to prepare the poster and all the professors will join the presentation to give some advice to the students,' he noted.
