Cheng Kung Literature and Art Festival (CKLAF) starts from May 15 to June 4 on National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), attracting students from different departments to participate in various kinds of innovative activities, such as film appreciation, band performances and workshops during the festival.
Students from Department of Architecture especially built a house for the festival. During the festival, there will be a 3-day-delicacy-savoring activity at the house from 24 to 26, and students who enjoy cooking and baking will present various kinds of food here.
An interactive art installations created by students from Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering uses the technology of electrically conductive ink printing. It will make different sounds if we touch the patterns and words printed by special ink.
'Couch Surfing at Campus' is a series of salons during the festival. It aims to lead students to think about studying, discussing and space designing.
'Midsummer Night' is an event including film appreciation, desserts and drinks savoring at night, which will take place on 20.
The open ceremony of CKLAF was held at 10a.m. on 15 at Kuang-Fu Campus, with NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su, NCKU Art Center Vice Director Bernard Hao-Chih Liu, Tainan Enterprise and Culture Foundation CEO Chung-Li Yeh and other guests attending the ceremony.
President Su pointed out that the students are creative, capable and ambitious, and the plans are also thorough and meaningful.
'It was amazing that they could unify students from 9 different colleges to make the plan become practical without enough resources. Activities regarding literatures and arts are rare at NCKU,' she added.
CEO Yeh said, 'Creativity is one of the core traits in business. Entrepreneurs can see that the students are really brilliant and capable. Students from College of Liberal Arts to College of Engineering all take part in this activity. We can also realize the importance of combining technology and arts from CKLAF.'
