NCKU’s first literature and art festival kicks off - Public.
A special event kicked off at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) on May 15 had attracted students from different departments on campus to participate in various kinds of activities, such as film appreciation, music performances, salons and workshops.
The Cheng Kung Literature and Art Festival (CKLAF) starting from May 15 to June 4 welcome people in the university community to appreciate the beauty of literature and arts.
Students from Department of Architecture especially built a house for the festival. During the festival, there will be a 3-day-delicacy-savoring activity at the house from 24 to 26, and students who enjoy cooking and baking will present various kinds of food here.
An interactive art installation created by students from Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering uses the technology of electrically conductive ink printing. It will make different sounds when people touch the patterns and words printed by special ink.
A series of salons called Couch Surfing at Campus will also be held during the festival to open the dialogue among students on studying, discussing and space designing.
Another event called 'Midsummer Night' features movie, desserts and drinks, which will take place on 20.
The open ceremony of CKLAF was held at 10a.m., May 15 at Kuang-Fu Campus, with NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su, NCKU Art Center Vice Director Bernard Hao-Chih Liu, Tainan Enterprise and Culture Foundation CEO Chung-Li Yeh and other guests attending the ceremony.
President Su pointed out that the students are creative, capable and ambitious, and the plans are also thorough and meaningful.
'It was amazing that they could unify students from 9 different colleges to make the plan become practical without enough resources. Activities regarding literatures and arts are rare at NCKU,' she added.
CEO Yeh said, Creativity is one of the core traits in business. Entrepreneurs can see that the students are really brilliant and capable. Students from College of Liberal Arts to College of Engineering all take part in this activity. It's brilliant.
