NCKU delegation shares World MUN experience - Public.
The National Cheng Kung University(NCKU) World MUN Delegation held a seminar at International Conference Hall on April 19 sharing their experience of attending Harvard World MUN last month and all the fun they had in Italy.
NCKU Executive Vice President Cheng-Hung Huang attended the seminar and showed his support and recognition for the WMUN delegation.
'NCKU encourages students to go abroad and participate in all kinds of activities or to pursue further education so as to broaden their horizons and to gain experiences,' said Huang.
'I believe that the delegation has achieved outstanding performance, so let's not waste too much time and begin with the seminar!' he added.
Model United Nations, which is known as MUN, is a simulation of United Nations conferences and also an academic competition in which students can discuss international affairs and learn more about the United Nations.
Harvard World Model United Nations (World MUN) is the most internationally diverse Model UN conference. Every year, World MUN takes place in a different location around the world. For the 2016 World MUN, all delegations were brought to the ancient and beautiful city, Rome.
'What exactly is MUN? To put it simply, it's a diplomatic role play,' said Christopher Lai, the head delegate of the delegation.
The vice head delegate, Catherine Tao, mentioned, 'Other school delegations may recruit experienced students only few months before attending WMUN, but we hope that we can gather unexperienced students who are willing to give it a try and help them possess the ability and skills required throughout a one-year training.'
During their staying in Italy, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the Republic of China (TAIWAN) to the Holy See, and had a meeting with the ambassador, Matthew S.M. LEE.
'I can see that all of you have prepared a lot for this journey and it's wonderful to have the chance to visit the Embassy of the Republic of China (TAIWAN) to the Holy See. I just want all of you to know that the school is fully supportive and willing to make arrangements with official organizations if you were to make visits,' said Dr. Cheng-Hung Huang in the end of the seminar.
'The recruitment for 2017 WMUN Delegation will begin in October. We sincerely welcome people that is full of passion, and most important of all, people that can work hard and play hard to join us!' informed by Roger Ou, the head delegate of 2017 WMUN Delegation.
Sawadogo, a senior student who came to attend the seminar, said, 'I fall in love with MUN ever since my first MUN conference. You get to learn a lot and to make friends from all over the world. I think that everyone should give MUN a try if possible.'
