NCKU Fitness Week kicks off
Tainan, Taiwan, April 20, 2016
A series of fitness examination including cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and muscular endurance offered by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Physical Education Office are now available for people in the university community in the annual Fitness Week starting from April 20.
According to the fitness examination from NCKU Physical Education Office, NCKU students perform better across a range of physical capability measures than before, especially in the cardiorespiratory fitness which is related to metabolism and epidemic rate.
NCKU international students were also invited to take the examination. Emy Saavedra Lan, an international student from the Republic of Chile, had good results in the fitness examination.
Prof. Linda L.Lin from the Physical Education Office said, “Statistics show NCKU students have higher levels of physical capability than students at the same age, but we need to be aware that body mass index (BMI) of teenagers have been rising recently, so do NCKU students.”
The Secretary General of Secretariat Office Prof. Yung-Nane Yang encouraged students to exercise more. He said, only with a healthy body can we are fully devoted to our works and study.
The fitness tracking smart watch launched recently will enable students to pay more attention to their health conditions, according to NCKU Physical Education Office.
Meanwhile, NCKU Physical Education Office are able to track students’ health indicators according to the data students provided and give them advice and guidance.
