Flags to fly at half-mast in NCKU for quake victims - Noodls

The national flags at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) are lowered in memory of the victims of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Tainan last week.
Premier San-Cheng Chang had announced on February 10 when he was visiting quake survivors in NCKU Hospital that flags will fly at half-mast across Taiwan on Monday, February 15, when government offices reopen after the Lunar New Year holiday.
NCKU maintains a well-functioned earthquake disaster prevention system for years and the structures of the buildings on campus are all strong. During the quake, the students, faculty and staff are safe and sound.
Even those buildings which are currently under-construction appeared safe after thorough checkup.
Prof. Ming-He Du, the Associate Vice-President of General Affairs, said, When the earthquake strikes, we are so worried about the damage of the high-voltage substation power system. Our staff has started to patrol at 4 am and make sure everything is fine.
