NCKU designs information kit for earthquake survivors

After the Feb. 6 Kaohsiung Meinong earthquake, post-disaster recovery is extremely essential for the victims. An information kit designed for earthquake survivors to help them get back on their feet is now available on the website of the Social Work Department at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Hospital.
The purpose of this kit is to provide basic information on how to lead a life after the disaster, according to the department.
Ms. Chen from the Social Work Department said, the kit includes basically everything they need to come back on their feet, including ID application, psychological consultation, disaster relief, welfare services consulting and referral, unemployment benefit, building damage assessment, reconstruction relief, housing, school registration, and hospitalizing.
She also said, our department assists patients and their families to handle social, emotional, family and financial problems that maybe associated with the patient's illness or life situation.
“We had started the design of the information kit since last week, putting everything we know to the kit and finish the final version on February 16,” said Chen.
Clinical psychologists at NCKU Hospital are ready to offer their services, which is also listed in the kit. Occupational reconstruction services are included as well.
