Ecological Genetics and Genomics journal launched in NCKU
Tainan, Taiwan, January 6, 2015
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, announced the launch of a new journal, Ecological Genetics and Genomics, which is the joint effort between Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Japan’s National Institute of Genetics (NIG).
Ecological Genetics and Genomics publishes ecological studies of broad interest that provide significant insight into ecological interactions or/ and species diversification, according to Prof. Tzen-Yuh Chiang from the College of Biosciences and Technology, NCKU.
Prof. Chiang and Prof. Takashi Gojobori from the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Tokyo are both co-editor in chief of Ecological Genetics and Genomics.
“There a lot of new discoveries regarding genetics and genomics coming out in recent years but there have been no such journals yet. Prof. Chiang and I decide to do it,” Gojobori added.
He noted that the journal is launched by Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services.
“Innovative discoveries should be published in this journal,” said Gojobori.
He also said, “We’d like to take initiative in the new field because NCKU has strong background and platform in environmental science, public health and agriculture.”
Ecological Genetics and Genomics focuses on the new discoveries in the areas of metagenomics, population genetics/genomics, evolutionary ecology, conservation and molecular adaptation, speciation genetics, environmental and marine genomics, ecological simulation, and genomic divergence of organisms.
