NCKU set up transport research center for Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region

An unveiling ceremony for a regional transport research center was held at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, on December 25, with experts, scholars and government officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC).
Commissioned by the MOTC, NCKU set up the transport research center for Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region in order to promote national transport policies and facilitate the training of local transport industry professionals.
The center is aiming to accelerate the integration of the public transport industry in the region and foster the partnership among the industry, government and academia.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chun-Hsiung Liao, the chairman of the Department of Transportation Communication Management Science and Institute of Telecommunications Management, and Prof. Yung-Hsiang Cheng, the director of the center.
Prof. Liao said, with the center, we hope to lead the development of public transport in the region, focusing on not only the improvement of the public transport system and service but the support of sustainable public transport.
