NCKU bachelor of accountancy accredited by CPA, Australia - Business Wire

The Tainan-based National Cheng Kung University’s (NCKU) bachelor of accountancy was accredited by CPA Australia (Certified Practicing Accountants), which is one of the world’s largest accounting bodies, the university revealed recently.

Department Chair of Accountancy Prof. Hua-Wei Huang and CPA Chief Operating Officer Mr. Jeff Hughes signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both institutes at the accreditation ceremony held at the Department of Accountancy, NCKU, Tainan, Taiwan, on December 8.

“We have two scholarships for the CPA program,” said Hughes, adding, “this is like a passport for the students to become members and then they’ll be recognized around the world in regard to quality, ethics, technical skills, and language skills.”

Huang noted, we are happy to be partnered with CPA Australia which is one of the world's largest accounting bodies with a global membership of more than 150,000 members working in 120 different countries.”

He said to Hughes at the ceremony, “I appreciate all the contribution and help and look forward to having further collaboration with you.”

Hughes responded, “I really look forward to a long partnership with you.”

He also pinpointed, “This is to educate young people and make sure that they have a great journey and great career.”

He added, “We have accredited a number of universities in the world and today we are accrediting NCKU which is the second accredited course in Taiwan.”

Taiwan is very committed to education, according to Hughes, and the students here in NCKU are very good.

“This is just the start of the journey for the students,” he said.

“They finish the degree, and they still have some exams to go before becoming profession and qualified,” added Hughes.
