Maker Faire Tainan celebrates innovation, technology, DIY spirit - noodls

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, hosted Maker Faire Tainan on November 28 and 29 with a total of 150 booths where engineers, science students and techno geeks presenting their inventions and also some craftspeople showing off their gadgets.
A grand opening ceremony was held at 10:00 am, November 28, at NCKU Chung Cheng Hall.
NCKU Executive Vice President Tung-Yang Chen on behalf of President Huey-Jen Jenny Su presided over the ceremony saying, 'I'd like to say thank you to the Tainan city government, schools, research institutes, and maker spaces in southern Taiwan for strong support and beautiful friendship.'
NCKU organized Maker Faire Tainan in hopes of bringing together Tainan's culture heritage, the creativity of local makers, and research capabilities of NCKU teachers, thus serving its function in academics, education, and promotion.
In his remarks, Tainan City Mayor Ching-Te Lai said that he was impressed by NCKU's efforts to host the Maker Faire events since 2014.
In its third year, the event is aimed at fostering Taiwan's DIY culture, which has gained popularity worldwide and has been made easier by new technology such as open-source software and hardware.
This year's event allowed people to experience the latest technology in 3D printing, robotics and programming.
