Kansai University delegation visits NCKU to strengthen academic ties - Noodls
Prof. Osamu Takeuchi, Dean of Faculty of Foreign Language Studies, Kansai University, Japan, led a delegation to visit National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, on November 3 to deepen mutual understanding and broaden the engagement between two universities.
Prof. Heng-An Chen, Deputy Dean of College of Liberal Arts at NCKU, welcomed the delegation saying, 'We started this beautiful friendship with Kansai University three years ago.'
Currently a total of nine students from Kansai University are studying Chinese and English at NCKU, according to Chen.
Prof. Takeuchi who visited NCKU for the first time said, we are happy to see the dual language study abroad program going smoothly and the students are treating well in NCKU.
'The program and facility in the college is very impressive and we are much satisfied with what we see here,' he added.
The delegation includes Dean Osamu Takeuchi, Director of Study Abroad Atsuko Kikuchi, and Deputy Director of Study Abroad Program Simon Humphries.
According to Prof. Kikuchi, we are expecting our students will improve their Chinese and English and at the same time learn to be independent and also learn about the culture.
'The nine students are English majors studying Chinese in NCKU's Chinese Language Center for the first half of the year, and then they will study English at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature with the English majors here,' she said.
Prof. Kikuchi noted, Chinese is one of the major languages in the world and I think it's quite important for us to know our neighbor.
She also said, Chinese is one of the major trading partners now so knowing both Chinese and English is a great advantage for our students.
