University of Michigan Energy Institute Director to speak at NCKU Wednesday afternoon - Noodls

Director of University of Michigan Energy Institute Prof. Mark A. Barteau will be at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, this Wednesday afternoon as the guest speaker of a seminar held at the Department of Chemical Engineering, NCKU.
Prof. Barteau will give a lecture on Catalyst Design Strategies for Chemicals and Fuels at a seminar taking place on Wednesday at 2pm, October 21, in Innovative Lecture room, 4F, Department of Chemical Engineering, NCKU.
According to Prof. Barteau's abstract, a major challenge in heterogeneous catalysis has been to design better catalysts from a molecular-level understanding of surface reaction mechanisms and site requirements.
It has been a dream for decades to be able to specify the composition and structure of matter to effect a desired catalytic transformation with desired and predicted rate and selectivity.
This presentation will consider examples of catalyst design utilizing new chemical insights from first principles studies, as well as the introduction of well-known catalytic functions into new environments.
