NCKU students get bikes for free
Tainan, Taiwan, October 12, 2015
Hundreds of students from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, gathered around at the field behind Kung-Fu dormitory over the lunch break of October 12 to get a bike free for themselves.
More than 200 used bikes have been repaired and ready for students to claim for free while the new semester has started and the demand for bikes has arisen.
There was a queue of people waiting for the free bikes when the parking field was opened at 12:10.
Restored to sound condition during the summer vacation, the second-hand bikes are collected at the field behind Kung-Fu dormitory where students had already lined up to choose the bike for themselves.
NCKU Military Training Division (MTD) offered hundreds of abandoned bikes that were repaired for the new students to claim for free.
Students may try out the bikes and choose one suitable for them travelling around the campus.
More than 200 bikes were available for the students to claim at the lunch break of October 12, according to NCKUMTD.
The campus of NCKU is vast with a total of more than 180 hectares of land which tops many the universities in Taiwan and the best way to commute on campus is riding a bike.
To get a bike is always a top priority for the new students during the first week at NCKU.
To highlight the concept of global sustainability and environmental protection, NCKU has collected the bikes that were abandoned on campus and fixed them for students to use.
