Student safety is a priority for NCKU
Tainan, Taiwan, September 29, 2015
As Typhoon Dujuan battered Taiwan and is expected to leave Taiwan soon, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, continues to make student safety a top priority.
Typhoon Dujuan hits Taiwan and Tainan City declares September 29 operating as a normal working day. National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is worrying about the safety of the staff and students and has decided on the morning of September 29 that teachers will not mark students absent today as long as students can’t commute to school due to disrupted transportation.
If teachers are unable to attend class due to disrupted traffic, a notice will be issued by the department and the teacher will schedule the make-up class soon.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su presided over the morning meeting at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, where she decided to make student safety a top priority on this particular day and had the administrative staff inform the staff and students as soon as possible.
Traffic was severely disrupted due to Typhoon Dujuan yesterday which affected people from eastern and southern Taiwan trying to get back from a three-day holiday weekend.
Traffic disruptions involve flight delays and closures on the nation’s railways and highways in mountainous areas.
