2015 Global Forum brings global vision to NCKU - Noodls

More than 300 students from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, who are interested in studying aboard gathered together on the night of September 22, in a forum where they sit with invited speakers, sharing international experience. Chih-Chao Chuang, Founder of the Innovative Open House (IOH), and Gabe Harbour, TV host at Studio Classroom were invited by NCKU's Office of International Affairs (OIA) to share their overseas leaning experience. The forum titled Global Forum 2015 took place from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 at International Conference Hall, Kung-Fu Campus, NCKU. "NCKU hosts the Global Forum for the first time to provide an interactive platform for both international and local students," said NCKU Vice President Cheng-Hung Huang in his opening remarks. He said, "Coordinated with the OIA, we had built an understanding amongst international students, exchange program students, overseas students, and students of Mainland China and Taiwan." Associate Vice President of OIA Ching-Min Chen said, we had organized four sessions on Experience Learning, Volunteer Programs, Overseas Exchange, and Overseas Internship, respectively. "These four different sessions represent the campus' enthusiasm of creating an interactive learning environment and bringing global vision to NCKU," she added. Gabe Harbour, an American who has lived in Taiwan since he was a child, in the forum shared his stories of how he integrated the different cultures, different identities and languages together. "Learning the country's language is the best way to get to know its culture," according to Harbour who encouraged the students to overcome barriers of miscommunication which will happen when travelling aboard. "Don't be afraid of making mistakes," he said, "because if you don't take yourself seriously no matter how long you've been leaning." Chih-Chao Chuang, a graduate of MIT and the founder and CEO of IOH, established a learning platform. In the forum, he shared his experience with students who wish to study abroad or to have internship overseas.
