NCKU bags 7 gold medals at FIRA RoboWorld Cup - Noodls
A Tainan-based research team of student and staff from the aiRobots Laboratory at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) won 7 gold and 1 silver medals at the recent Fira RoboWorld Cup in South Korea, the university announced today. The aiRobots Laboratory led by Prof. Tzuu-hseng Li from the Department of Electrical Engineering at NCKU has won many domestic awards as well as international ones, especially in the FIRA RoboWorld Cup. The winning team currently consists of 9 students from the lab has won three consecutive honors of All Round Competition at FIRA RoboWorld Cup. This year a special prize, HuroCup Grand Prize, was also awarded to the team to celebrate its achievement. Li said, the team has a breakthrough in the movements of robots. To enhance the agility and stability, the soles of the robot are trimmed to fit the design. He also added, the balance of a robot's hands, eyes and feet and other subtle control require the help of information, computer and technology as well as software design. The incorporation of skills created by robot design is crucial to the development of industry, according to Li.
